Government imposes 40% export duty on onions to improve domestic availablity

To improve the domestic availability and price hike of onions, Government of India imposes 40% export duty on onions with immediate effect upto 31st December 2023.

The step has been taken by the central government to curb the rising prices of onions.

Imposing of high export duty will discourage export of online which will result in availablity of onions in India. Thus prices of onions may remain under control and availability of onions will also improve.
